Wedding Day Prep
There's a lot of planning and preparation that goes into a wedding. It's important to make sure you are taking care of yourself and creating a routine leading up to the big day that will help you to look and feel your best. Below I've listed several important tips to help you look and feel your best on your special day.
-
Maintain regular cut and color appointments. Split ends can lead to fly aways and a frizzy updo. Many updo's have dimension from highlights. Some styles, may require extensions if you want the same fullness as in the inspiration photo. If you have longer or thicker hair the selected style may require you cutt of a few inches, thin the hair out, or add more layers and angles.

If you are going to be getting extensions for your wedding day, give yourself time to wear them and get used to how they feel. If you are using clip in's, you will want them blended to your own hair beforehand. If they are not clip in's you will also want to make sure you have time to get used to the maintenance and care that goes along with them.

A blowout before the wedding day is a great way to ensure hair will be properly prepped for the day itself. On the wedding day everyone needs to be arriving with clean, dry hair. Arriving with damp hair will take away from time needed to execute the style properly. Arriving with hair filled with products will hinder the stylists ability to prep your hair correctly and achieve the desired style.

Establish a skin care routine. At the very least you should be cleansing, moisturizing, and using SPF daily. A mild exfoliation once a week is also beneficial. There are several steps you can add in between such as toner, mists, eye creams, and acids that you can add based on your specific skin needs. I highly recommend seeing an esthetician for regular facials in the months leading up to the wedding. Don't try something drastically new or use anything your skin may have a reaction to in the few weeks before the wedding.

A spray tan can give you a beautiful, natural glow. Make sure if you plan to get one, and have not had one before do not wait until right before the wedding to get your first one. Go for a trial run first to make sure you get the right shade for you.

-
Be careful of sun exposure in the weeks before the wedding. Be mindful that things like sports bras and bathing suits can create funky tan lines that are extremely difficult to try and cover. Peeling skin from a sunburn will prevent makeup from sticking correctly.

-
Have a trial. This will help you to get an idea of what you will look like on the big day. You and your stylist can determine what works, what doesn't work, what may need tweaking, and how everything holds up. On that day bring any hair accessories or a veil you may be wearing on the wedding day. Take pictures and provide your stylist with feedback that can be implemented on the day of.

If you like the lip color used in the trial, get the name of it from your makeup artist so you can purchase one to have for touch ups on the wedding day. I also recommend that wedding party members bring a lip colorn they love if they are wanting to have something for touch ups throughout the night.
